LIVE ART IN BUSHWICK

I love my busted little neighborhood for a multitude of sins, including some awesome, accessible performance resources that I've only recently discovered.

CLASSCLASSCLASS
An approachable, affordable dance class series, some of which takes place around here, some of which happens in the city. Actually started three years ago by Jmy Leary of MGM Grand.

BRAZIL
Founded by dancer Anna Sperber in 2005, this charming little space in a warehouse around the corner is perfect for classes, rehearsals and small performances.

THE BARN
Just a tiny hop into Ridgewood, The Barn was founded by three dancers (one of whom I will see tonight at PS122) to support their practices and yours.

CHEZ BUSHWICK
An artist-run interdisciplinary space offering space rentals for just $8/hr and a wide variety of programming.

THE BUSHWICK STARR
A full-scale non-profit presenting venue with tech riders and all.

ARTS IN BUSHWICK
A volunteer community organization working to engage and sustain the neighborhood creatively. Known for putting on free festivals.

3rd WARD
A large-scale center for continuing creative education, 3rd Ward offers classes and facilities in everything from photography and woodshop to upholstery and inflatable sculpture. (Sadly no ceramics... hint, hint.) The classes are not cheap, but if you know how to utilize the resources and become a member of the space itself you have full access to all they offer.

CPR
Technically speaking, the Center for Performance Research is in Williamsburg. But it's real close, and they're connected to Chez Bushwick, and seem an amazing organization (and a totally LEED certified facility) for classes, shows and connections.

Now if this isn't enough to make you become my neighbor, I'll start talking tacos.
